The short answer.

Ceramic IR is the film we recommend for most daily drivers in a Georgia summer. It blocks the most infrared heat of the three films we install, and it costs more than Classic Black or Carbon IR. If heat is not your main complaint, a cheaper film can still give you the look and the privacy.

What Ceramic IR is.

Hitek Ceramic IR is a nano-ceramic infrared film. Instead of relying on dye to make the glass dark, it uses ceramic and carbon-based technology to stop infrared heat, the part of sunlight you feel on your skin. It also blocks about 99% of UV, which fades dashboards and seats.

Here are Hitek's published figures, measured at a 5% shade. A lighter shade blocks less.

Who it is for.

You park outside

A car baking in a parking lot or driveway gets the most out of a film that stops infrared heat.

You sit in traffic

Stop-and-go on I-85 or 985 means a lot of time with the sun on your arm and your lap. The cabin heats more slowly and the A/C works less hard.

Kids or pets in the back

Rear glass gets the most sun on a long drive. Ceramic helps keep the back seat cooler.

What it costs.

Ceramic IR starts at $550 for a sedan, coupe or hatchback, $625 for a crossover, SUV or pickup, and $675 for a van or full-size SUV. That is the full car: front windows, rear side windows and the back window.

  • Front two windows only: from $275 (car), $315 (SUV or truck), $340 (van).
  • Georgia-legal windshield top strip: $50.
  • Old tint removal with a new tint job: from $150.

Prices vary car to car because of the shape and curvature of the glass, how many windows you pick, and the condition of the glass. Glass roofs cost extra. We confirm your exact price by text.

Use the tint tool on the home page to pick your car, film and windows and see an estimate, or see the full pricing page.

Shades and the Georgia law.

Ceramic IR comes in 5%, 20%, 35%, 40%, 50% and 70%. Georgia changed its tint law in 2026 (HB 1161), so older articles may show the wrong numbers.

  • Front side windows: 28% or lighter on every vehicle.
  • Rear side windows and back window: as dark as 15% on a sedan, coupe or hatchback. Most SUVs and trucks are exempt on the rear windows.
  • Windshield: only the top 6 inches.

We tell you which shades are legal on each window of your vehicle before we install. A medical exemption is available through the state. Read the full Georgia tint law page.
